This
morning I went into the garden is our first book, documenting the
three months of summer '99 through to the beginning of 2000. The small leatherettes which feature on the cover were found in a secondhand book store in New Zealand and were the original inspiration behind this ongoing body of work. The leatherettes were initially designed to be stuck on everything from lamp shades and cigarette boxes to gowns... or in our case small books. The books in this edition are covered in black, ochre and cherry red emu leather which we selected for its delicious peck marks and imperfections across the surface. The leatherettes ranged from golden elephants through to inky hued rabbits and blue hens. |
